The relationship between humans and animals has characterised and influenced the history of humankind – at least since the Neolithic Revolution. It is often a history of oppression and exploitation of animals, but also a history of getting to know each other and appreciating animals. Today, this relationship to animals plays an important role in the context of various technical developments.
The lecture and the associated colloquium attempt to pursue the question of successful and unsuccessful forms of interaction, but also the questions of opportunities, risks and challenges of this exciting relationship from an interdisciplinary perspective.
