You would like to offer a course in the “Leonardo” project? You would like to try out a new didactic concept or an exam procedure? You have an interesting interdisciplinary topic but no concept yet? Are you looking for a way to present your research project to students in an interdisciplinary setting?
The “Leonardo” project is available to you as an experimental environment! Our team has a wealth of experience in the conception and organisation of interdisciplinary courses and will accompany you from the initial idea to the implementation of the individual dates. Every semester, hundreds of motivated and committed students from all departments at RWTH Aachen University sign up for the “Leonardo” project.
If you are interested or have any questions, please contact leonardo@humtec.rwth-aachen.de or the project management directly: alina.cohnen@leonardo.rwth-aachen.de, lennart.goepfert@leonardo.rwth-aachen.de or soenke.hebing@leonardo.rwth-aachen.de.
In general, “Leonardo” events are offered by at least two people. Members of the RWTH who have at least a completed doctorate can be considered as responsible persons. In addition, student initiatives, NGOs and other organisations are eligible, provided they form a team with a person who has at least a doctorate.
You can contact the “Leonardo” team at any time. We will be happy to help you with further development, suggest possible experts from our network or arrange contact with internal and external cooperation partners.
In principle, you are very flexible in terms of the format. The “Leonardo” project offers several standard formats: 1. lecture series with 7-9 regular lecture and discussion dates, 2. seminars/workshops with a limited number of participants. Other formats such as excursions, block seminars, panel discussions, project work, etc. are also possible.
Each course is accompanied by an assistant with 6h/week. This person is responsible for the comprehensive supervision and organisation of the course. We also provide a budget that can be used for lecture fees, teaching materials and excursion costs. All registration procedures for events and examinations are handled by the “Leonardo” project. The event is advertised extensively through our channels.
If you would like to offer a course in the winter semester, please contact us by the end of April. The final confirmation and the most important framework data (day of the week, time, number of participants, examination results, etc.) must be received by the end of May.
If you would like to offer a course in the summer semester, please contact us by the end of October. The final confirmation and the most important framework data (day of the week, time, number of participants, examination results, etc.) must be received by the end of November.
Many students are able to receive credit for achievements they have made in the “Leonardo” project in their degree programme. Therefore, it is not mandatory, but very welcome, to offer examination credits. Possible are 2 CP, 3 CP or 4CP (and combinations thereof). The “Leonardo” project has a lot of experience with some tried and tested examination formats. However, you can also try out your own ideas.
A person from the responsible team should be on site at each appointment. In addition, the examination results must be corrected.
In return, you get the opportunity to try out new teaching ideas or research projects with an interdisciplinary group of students. You will also benefit from new contacts, the “Leonardo” network and a budget for the event. It is also possible to count the teaching activity towards your teaching load.
